Max Gutierrez Florida bartender as Hero

Max Gutierrez, who works at No Vacancy in St. Petersburg, was hailed as a hero after a woman, Trinity Allen, shared the story on Twitter, praising the Hawaiian-shirt-clad barkeep.

Gutierrez posed for a picture showing the note he handed to Allen, and the tweet quickly went viral. The St. Petersburg drink-slinger was wearing a Hawaiian shirt-wearing barkeep handed Allie a note that looked like a receipt, but read: “If this guy is bothering you, put your ponytail on your other shoulder, and I will have him removed. He’s giving me the creeps.”

“This man was harassing me and my friend and the bartender passed this note to me acting like it was my receipt ! Legit the type of bartender everyone needs,” Allie’s caption read.

In a follow-up tweet the woman explained that Gutierrez yelled “you need to get the f—k away from these girls who clearly are not interested,” before kicking him out.

Allie also clarified that she had Gutierrez pose for the picture after the incident, not while she was being harassed.

In another post, Trinity shared Max’s views on the situation, and he said that shouting at the customer eventually made him go, even though he doesn’t like doing that to people.

“Eventually you become pretty good at reading people, body language, etc. This guy was giving off very weird vibes for quite a while, kept an eye on him, try to give him a chance, try to let the girls tell him no and leave it at that, but he didn’t take no for an answer and kept pestering them so eventually I kind of yelled at him and made him leave lol,” he continued.

“I honestly don’t like yelling at customers or embarrassing people, but I find it’s one of the best ways to handle creeps. Calling them out in front of people is usually enough to get them to turn tail and walk away.”

Gutierrez Reddit

Gutierrez later detailed the encounter on Reddit, explaining how he’s gotten accustomed to identifying problematic patrons.

“It’s something you just pick up from mentor bartenders,” Gutierrez replied when asked if bartenders were taught these types of tricks.

According to the Twitter thread, a man was aggressively hitting on the two women at No Vacancy and Gutierrez could see how uncomfortable they felt. The second woman tweeted that the man had touched her.

“You need to get … away from these girls who clearly are not interested,” Gutierrez told him, according to the tweets.

“That was a little aggressive,” the man responded.

“Well you’re aggressively hitting on them and you need to leave,” Gutierrez said.
