How Did John McAfee Die?
John McAfee, the eccentric and passionate tech pioneer who once ran for president as a Libertarian but failed to qualify on both sides of politics (despite polls suggesting otherwise) is dead. He was reported missing back in December when he went into hiding after being charged with murder following an argument at his home country’s consulate where authorities found him last week; now it appears that those charges were only notional – though this time around there will be no extradition, either way, due because they’re
How Old was John McAfee
He was 75 years old at the time of his suicide death.
How did John McAfee die?
In October 2020, McAfee was arrested in Barcelona on criminal tax evasion charges.
The U.S. Justice Department said in October that from 2014-2018, he failed to file tax returns despite receiving considerable income.
Shortly after Spain’s National Court approved an extradition order to send him back to the United State to face the criminal tax evasion charges, he was found dead in his Barcelona prison cell.
Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported that McAfee was dead within hours of the extradition order of an apparent suicide.
Prison medical staff attempted to resuscitate him but failed.
It has been reported that he apparently hung himself in his cell.
Back when McAfee was only 15-years-old, his father reportedly committed suicide and shot himself to death.
He Reportedly Was Found Dead by Hanging
Hours before he was found dead, Spain had approved the United States’ request to extradite McAfee, Business Insider reported. McAfee was in jail since he was arrested at a Barcelona airport in October.
According to a translated version of the local publication El Pais, McAfee was found hanging in his cell by prison guard officials. Officials reportedly tried to resuscitate him when he was found but were not able to save him. Officials in Spain are reporting that he died by suicide.
‘Everything Points to Suicide,’ Local Officials Said
An autopsy identifying the exact cause of death is not yet available. The New York Post reported that police are investigating his death and officials told a local publication that “everything points to suicide.”
John McAfee’s Children
On Twitter, he said he had 47 children, 61 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren that he hadn’t met.
I’m not here to give you solutions;
That’s for you young folks of mine to do:
My lazy children, grand children and great-grand children.
Yes. I have great-grand children.
I’m here to point to the reality around you.
Which you children are so fond of ignoring.

However, he later tweeted that the number 47 was an approximate guess and not an exact count due to DNA testing not being around when he was growing up.
He told The Sun: “It’s very difficult to keep track of. Almost all of them were illegitimate … I keep in touch with everyone… I take care of all of them financially.”
However, he told Twitter that his guess of 47 children was “the best guess given the information that I have.”
Since you asked:
I have 47 children.
61 grand children
19 great-grand children
I have met none of my great-grand children.

John McAfee’s Wife Janice Dyson
Janice and John McAfee were married in 2013 after meeting in 2012, Daily Mail reported. They met when he hired her as a prostitute and paid her for a day and a night together, ABC News reported. Janice told ABC News that he saved her from trafficking and allowed her to reconnect with her son.
The couple first met back in 2012 after McAfee had been deported from Guatemala. He picked Janice up at a Miami Beach cafe and hired her as an escort for the night.
At the time, McAfee was on the run from murder accusations in Belize where they believed he had murdered his 54-year-old neighbor Gregory Faull.
The two got married in 2013 and resided in Lexington, Tennessee.

He was arrested in Spain on October 5, 2020, at the request of the US Department of Justice, and the charge against him claimed that despite making millions of dollars, he neglected to file taxes for the years 2014-2018.
He Was Accused of Evading Taxes
McAfee was being extradited for tax evasion in 2016, 2017, and 2018, El Pais reported. He was accused of not disclosing money earned from cryptocurrency, speaking fees, and selling his rights for a documentary about himself, Business Insider reported.
McAfee was facing a 10-count indictment, New York Post reported. The indictment claimed he had dodged millions in taxes. He was also accused of registering purchases for a yacht, car, and property under a different person’s name. McAfee claimed the tax evasion charges were politically motivated.
A separate indictment accused him of pumping and dumping cryptocurrencies, New York Post reported.
On June 10, McAfee tweeted that he was “old and content with food and a bed but for the young prison is a horror.”
John McAfee Other Wives
McAfee has been married three times throughout his life. His first marriage was to one of his students, but not much information is available on who she was- only that they divorced sometime in the ’70s or 80s when he started college at 16 years old! After this unfortunate separation from an early romance phase, McAfee found himself with Judy, 67-year-old founder/CEO for International House which became Intel Corporation after being bought out by Microsoft worth billions upon billions during their rise to power (in 2013). The two were wed between 1986 – 2002; before then allowing divorce filings through court documents filed under California Law granting them joint custody over what remains intact including intellectual property rights valued equally
